Lois Jean (Stille) King died at her home in Lynn on Monday, November 2, 2026 after a short illness, with her family around her. She was 92.
Born in Lynn in 1934 to Ivan and Mildred (Keller) (Amero) Stille, she grew up in the city and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1951. She went on to Salem State College and then to a life on the move as part of a military family, living in Thailand, Germany and on bases up and down the East Coast before settling back in Lynn in 1968 to raise her sons.
She worked as a secretary at Pine Grove Cemetery and for many years as a waitress around Lynn, including a long stretch at the former J.T. Shawmut Restaurant. Her home was her castle, her family says, and she loved having her grandchildren in it. She was an avid bowler, played tennis, danced, liked a scratch ticket, listened to country music and was a devoted fan of Devo.
She leaves her sons James and Mark King, both of Lynn; her grandchildren Christopher, Jason and Taylor King; her great-grandson Devon King; her brother Robert “Slug” Stille; and many nieces and nephews. Her sisters Joyce Grier, Audrey Kennedy and Sandra DeMeule, her longtime companion Bob Gookin and her dog Sable died before her.
A graveside service will be held Monday, November 16, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery, 145 Boston Street, Lynn. Relatives and friends are asked to gather inside the main gate at 10:45 a.m. Arrangements are by Solimine Funeral Homes, Lynn.
