Gilberto Jose Rosario Ferreira of Peabody died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 1, 2026, with his family around him. He was 68.
He was born in Bonao, in the Dominican Republic, the son of Luciano Rosario Rodriguez and Lilia Ferreira Rosario, and grew up and went to school there. He came to the United States in 2007 and in time settled in Peabody, which became a second home.
For more than 16 years he worked at the Marshalls Distribution Center in Woburn, where his family says his work ethic earned him the respect of the people he worked beside.
He was a man of faith and a husband, father and grandfather who worked to provide for his family and was happiest in their company. Relatives describe him as humble and calm, with a sense of humor that could catch people off guard: a quick, clever reply from the quiet man in the room that set a family gathering laughing.
He played baseball when he was young and followed the game for the rest of his life. He was a devoted tennis fan, kept up with the news, read about world history, was fascinated by airplanes and liked to listen to instrumental music.
He leaves his wife, Fe Rosario Cabrera; his daughter, Jaris Bueno, and her husband, Jose Bueno Jr.; and his grandchildren, Elise and Ean Bueno, all of Peabody. He also leaves his brothers and sisters and their families in the Dominican Republic and the United States.
A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Pilgrims Church of Boston (Primera Iglesia Bautista de Boston), 31 Main Street, Saugus. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Peabody. In place of flowers, the family asks for donations in his memory to Care Dimensions. Arrangements are by the O’Donnell Funeral Home, 167 Maple Street, Danvers.
