Salem State, the probation office in the Peabody and Lynn courts, gaming nights, fishing, a white cat named Misty, a dog named Shadow, one-liners that left the room in tears, spicy food and mint chocolate chip. Steven Ciaramitaro of Saugus was 28.

Steven C. Ciaramitaro of Saugus died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. He was 28.

He was born in Melrose and lived in Saugus all his life, the son of Laura Moretti of Saugus and Stephen Ciaramitaro and his wife Christine of Spring Hill, Fla. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice at Salem State and worked as a probation case administrator in the Peabody and Lynn courts. He liked gaming, movies and series, fishing and a cool night outside, and animals most of all; his family called him the animal whisperer, with Misty, his white cat, as his pride and joy and Shadow, the family dog, as his playmate. His humor was dry and his one-liners landed. He loved spicy food, Kit Kats and mint chocolate chip ice cream. His family remembers a quiet, kind and gentle soul.

Besides his parents, he leaves his sister, Desiree Ciaramitaro of Salem; his uncle, Robert Moretti of Saugus; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His grandparents, Jean and Charles Moretti and Stephen and Pauline Ciaramitaro, died before him.

A funeral Mass is Wednesday, October 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Summer Street, Saugus; the family will greet guests at the church from 9:45. Arrangements are by the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, Saugus. The family suggests donations to Wolf Hollow in Ipswich or K9s For Warriors.
