Raymond O. Couillard of Saugus died peacefully on October 2, 2026 while in hospice care. He was 90 and had been married 67 years to Maryann (Misiano) Couillard.

He lived his whole life in Saugus, the son of the late Oscar and Estelle (Auger) Couillard. He met Maryann when she worked at the Revere Drive-In and he worked at a Sunoco station in Revere, the station he later bought and ran as Ray’s Sunoco. He became so much a part of that corner of the city that the rotary where the station stood came to be called Ray’s Circle. His word was his bond, his employees and customers got a fair deal, and he kept his promises. He served in the Korean War and for 15 years as a Saugus firefighter, and owned the New England Ice Company as well. He liked antique cars, diners and the company of the people he loved, and taught his children by example what it meant to work hard and be good.

Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Lynne Sharp and her husband Peter, Ray Couillard and his wife Jill, Doug Couillard and his wife Melissa, and Craig Couillard and his wife Charlene; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson. His brothers Norman, Arthur, Roland and Robert Couillard and his sisters Jeanette Nelson and Beatrice Cronin died before him.

Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Avenue, Saugus. Funeral services are private, with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Saugus. The family suggests donations to Tufts Medicine Care at Home.
