Joseph Gerald Fiorino of Medford died on Thursday, October 29, 2026 at MelroseWakefield Hospital. He was 97.

He was born and raised in Boston’s North End, the son of Peter and Elizabeth (Alfieri) Fiorino, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. When he came home he settled in Medford, where he lived for the next 72 years, and built and owned the Mystic Valley Insurance Company.

Golf was his game, and he watched the rest, football, hockey and baseball in particular. The people who knew him remember the humor first: quick, funny and outgoing, with a word for everyone.

He leaves his wife Claire M. (Rodriguez) Fiorino; his daughter Lois Bosari; his sons Peter Fiorino and his wife Patricia and Joseph Fiorino and his wife Deborah; his grandchildren George and his wife Denise, Kenny and his wife Melissa, and Joseph; his great-grandchildren George, Jacob and Wesley; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. His sisters Mary and Phyllis and his brother Stanley died before him.

At his request there were no visiting hours or funeral services. A celebration of his life is being planned for a later date. Arrangements are by the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Medford.
