Hamrick H. Waller Sr., known as Rick, died at his home in Lynn on November 4, 2026 after a long illness. He was 85.

He was born October 25, 1941 in Faith’s Pen, Jamaica, to Cleveland and Amanda (Dennis) Waller. He came to the United States in 1970 already trained as a welder, with his faith and a plan to build a life with his wife, Dorine (White) Waller; they were married 55 years. He had been welding since he was 21. His first job here was with Lechmere Welding Company in Cambridge, and from there he went to General Electric in Lynn, where he stayed 36 years until he retired. His family describes a provider who took pride in his trade and made the sacrifices that kept his household secure.

Church was the center of his week. He attended East Baptist Church in Lynn for more than 20 years and then became a longtime member of West Church, and Sundays were kept for worship and for family and friends. He was not a complainer. His family remembers a man who led by example, encouraged quietly and told his son growing up, “These are the best days of your life… give it your best shot.” He liked to fish, could fix most things and remodeled the interior of the family’s Lynn home himself over the years.

He leaves his wife Dorine; his son Hamrick Waller Jr. and his wife Julie; his grandchildren Nathan, Joshua, Noah, Justin and Annalise; his siblings Hoffman Waller and his wife Aldith, Monica Campbell, Gloria Waller, Eunice Symms, Delroy Waller and his wife Diane, Esther Swaby and Hubert Waller and his wife Patsy; and many nieces and nephews. His siblings Cynthia Lugg-Wright, Olga Brown and George Waller died before him.

A visitation will be held Thursday, November 12, 2026 at 9 a.m. at West Church, 27 Johnson Street, Peabody, followed by a service at 10 a.m. and a reception in the church hall. Arrangements are by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody.
