Timothy L. Glynn, a 49-year veteran of Century Bank and a former president of the Malden Planning Board, died on October 24, 2026 at Ledgewood Bay Assisted Living and Memory Care. He was 86.
He was born in Everett, one of seven children of Allen “Frank” Glynn and Caroline Rooney, and went to high school at Our Lady of Pity in Cambridge before business school. He worked at Newhall Drug and as a collector before joining Century Bank, where he rose to senior vice president of loans and spent much of his career approving the mortgages and business loans that put local families into their first homes and storefronts. He served Malden for years as president of its planning board.
He bowled, played cards, drove a 1949 Mercury, hummed along to whatever was playing, and watched golf, game shows, the Red Sox and Judge Judy. He was known for his blue eyes, his Irish scally cap and his tall tales.
He met Barbara Whelan when they were 15 and walked from Everett to Medford every day to see her. They were married 65 years and took two trips a year to Aruba. He leaves her; his daughters, Deborah Caristinos and her husband Dennis, and Doreen Burke and her fiance Mark Cronin; seven grandchildren, Joseph Burke and his wife Samantha, Ryan Burke and his fiance Oliver Lou, Angela Caristinos and her partner Joshua Hansen, Danielle Faustino and her husband Michael, Christopher Caristinos and his partner Kelsey Estabrook, Amanda Depin and her husband Mark, and Matthew Caristinos and his partner Brianna Leo; many great-grandchildren; and his siblings Elizabeth Hannon, Florence Ryan, Rosemary Baglio, and Allen Glynn and his wife Barbara. His son Timothy Glynn Jr. and his siblings Carolyn and John died before him.
