Dr. Eugene A. Glick, a psychiatrist who kept a private practice in Malden for 30 years, died on October 21, 2026. He was 95 and lived in Peabody, formerly of Malden and York, Maine.

He grew up on Almont Street in Malden, the seventh of eight children of Sam and Annie Glick, who had come from Lithuania as teenagers; the household spoke Yiddish and English. He was a member of Brandeis University’s first graduating class and served in the Army during the Korean War. He earned a master’s degree in psychology at the New School in New York, went to Tufts Medical School, and did his internship in psychiatry at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, where a blind date introduced him to Susan Hudson. They married in 1962, lived briefly in the French Quarter, and moved to Massachusetts for his residency at the Boston VA in Jamaica Plain.

From 1965 the family lived in Malden, where he and Susan raised four children. He worked at Danvers State, New England Memorial and Melrose-Wakefield hospitals alongside his Malden practice. In the 1990s the couple moved to York, Maine, and in retirement he took on work at Strafford Counseling Center and the Strafford County jail, which he called some of the most satisfying of his career. He kept a Tuesday “men’s group” for oysters and talk, followed progressive politics closely, loved opera and classical music, and had seen every episode of Perry Mason more than once.

He leaves his wife, Susan (Hudson) Glick; his children, Peter Hudson Glick and his wife Kerstin, Emily Alston-Follansbee and her husband Mark, and Katherine Antin Glick and her husband David Evans; his daughter-in-law Rebecca Crawford, widow of his son John Richard Glick; five grandchildren, Max Hudson Glick and his wife Leah Danny, Samuel Walter Glick, Olivia Leigh Glick, Jeremy Alston-Follansbee and Annie Rose Alston-Follansbee; a great-grandson, Arlo; his brother Paul Glick; and many nieces and nephews. His siblings Naomi Kaufman, I. Sidney Glick, Sylvia Levin, Zelda Riceberg, Irene Levene and Dr. Stanley Glick died before him.

Services are Monday, October 26 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Brooksby Village, 300 Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody, with burial at Lebanon Tiferet Shalom Cemetery, Peabody. Arrangements are by the Goldman Funeral Chapel, Malden. The family suggests donations to Plugged In Band in Needham, in memory of John Glick, or to the John Glick Memorial Fund.
