Michael R. Berube of Saugus, formerly of Swampscott, died on Friday, August 28, 2026. He was 64 and had been married nearly 31 years to Martina (Ciaramaglia) Berube.
He was born in Medford and raised in Malden, the son of Richard Berube of Malden and Rosemary (Palizzolo) Berube, who died before him. He graduated from Pope John XXIII High School and earned a master’s in education at Cambridge College, worked for years in pharmaceutical sales and taught marketing. He lived in Lexington and then Swampscott for many years and had moved to Saugus three weeks before his death. In Swampscott he coached, sat on the boards of the Little League and the Swampscott-Nahant Babe Ruth league and did much of the work of keeping the fields playable. In 1994 he founded Bright Path to help people through personal struggles. His family describes a father who worked without rest to give his children their chances.
Besides his wife and father, he leaves his children, Gabriela, Alexandra, Victoria and Nicholas Berube; his granddaughter, Aria Baptista; his brother, Christopher Berube; and his brother-in-law, Tony Panza.
Visiting hours are Thursday, September 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean Street, Lynn, with the funeral there Friday, September 4 at 10 a.m. and burial at Riverside Cemetery, Saugus. The family suggests donations to Swampscott Little League, 450B Paradise Road, Swampscott, or Swampscott-Nahant Babe Ruth Baseball, 9 Sumner Street, Swampscott.
