Robert Francis (Kane) Meyers of Malden died at home on September 13, 2026 with his wife and family around him. He was 87.

He was born Robert Kane in Charlestown on October 26, 1938, the son of Francis M. Kane of Charlestown and Helen Barclay Meyers of Malden. He served in the United States Air Force and worked more than 30 years for the MBTA. He met Diana in 1965 and they were married 61 years; his family says that even as his health failed, his worry was that she be looked after.

They called him “Bob the Builder.” He rarely paid anyone for work he thought he could do himself and was the first call when anyone in the family needed a second opinion on a project, usually opening with “You know, what you really should do is…” He walked the dogs around the reservoir, spent days on the boat, and liked a good fishing story.

He leaves his wife, Diana Aivalikles Meyers of Malden; his son, Daniel Meyers of Bedford, N.H.; his stepdaughter, Dr. Margo Moskos, and her husband, Dr. David Burns, of Lexington; his grandchildren, Jacob Meyers of East Boston, Dr. Stacey Burns of Lexington and Alex Burns of Boston; his half-brother Daniel A. Meyers of Rye, N.H.; his half-sister Nancy Meyers Dunlea of Melrose; and his sister-in-law Carol Meyers of Malden, widow of his brother Richard.

He was buried in a private ceremony on September 17, 2026 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Arrangements were by the Breslin Funeral Home, Malden.
