Warren Francis Rogers of Peabody and Chatham died peacefully on October 13, 2026 at Beverly Hospital. He was 92.

He was born and raised in Chatham, the son of the late Flavius and Sadie (Bassett) Rogers, graduated from Chatham High School and served in the Air Force. He lived in Chatham for more than 70 years and spent more than 25 of them as a custodian in the Chatham schools, where students knew him as the man who opened the gym after hours and sent them home each day with a kind word. On May 22, 2004 he married Winifred Lewis and moved to Peabody, where he took up a new post with children as a crossing guard at the Bowditch School in Salem. He worshiped at Brewster Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Salem. He golfed, landscaped, worked puzzles, people-watched, went to the Topsfield Fair, drove Lynn Shore Drive and the Nahant Causeway for the view, watched the backyard wildlife and walked Harding’s Beach in Chatham with Winifred in summer. His annual trips to Boston games with his sons and their friends became family lore, and his last visit to Fenway Park came on his 90th birthday.

He leaves his wife, Winifred (Lewis) Rogers of Peabody; his son, Paul Rogers, and his wife Christine of Chatham; his grandchildren, William, Katie and Timothy; and several great-grandchildren. His son Larry Rogers, his brother Flavius Rogers and his sister Eleanor Livingston died before him.

A graveside service is Saturday, October 24 at 11 a.m. at Seaside Cemetery, Crowell Road, Chatham, with a celebration of life to come at the First Baptist Church in Salem. Arrangements are by O’Donnell Cremations, Funerals and Celebrations, 84 Washington Square, Salem. The family suggests donations to the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History, 869 Main Street, Brewster, MA 02631.
