Joyce A. Foster died on Monday, October 13, 2026. She was 81.
She was born and raised in Beverly, the daughter of the late Colombo and Filomena (Paglia) DiStefano. As a young woman she worked at United Shoe, where she met Maynard W. Foster, her husband, who died before her. Later she was a lunchroom monitor at Ayers Elementary School, and for years she worked at the family restaurant, Freddie’s on Rantoul Street, which fed the city for more than half a century. She followed every Boston team, the Red Sox first, with sideline coaching from the living room, and loved dogs all her life. Her sister Geraldine Pinciaro and brother-in-law Walter Pinciaro died before her.
She leaves her daughter, Jami L. Morrissey, and her husband Frank of Beverly; her sons, Jeffrey S. Foster and his wife Lisa of Rockport, and Gary M. Foster and his wife Giovanna of Salisbury; her grandchildren, Joshua Thibideau, Anthony, Nicholas and Christian Morrissey, and Noah, Vincenzo and Luciana Foster; her twin sister, Linda Coyne, and her husband Edward of Danvers; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, Sammi.
A funeral service is Saturday, October 24 at 11:30 a.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, with visiting hours from 9:30, and burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Beverly. The family suggests donations to the MSPCA Northeast Animal Shelter.
