Susan (Grant) Harvey died peacefully on October 14, 2026 at Seasons of Danvers with her family around her. She was 83.
She was born in Beverly on February 1, 1943 to the late Clinton and Barbara (Hurd) Grant, graduated from Beverly High School in 1961 and trained at the Katharine Gibbs School on Huntington Avenue in Boston. She spent more than 20 years as secretary to the State Police Detective Unit, work she took great pride in. For years she and her mother played the organ together at Emmanuel Congregational Church in Beverly. She sewed, crafted and quilted, tried whatever was new, cake decorating included, and outfitted her kitchen to match. Summers meant the family camp in Harpswell, Maine. She loved animals, her two dogs, both named Seamus, and her cats above all, and in her last three years at Seasons of Danvers she made a new circle of friends among the residents, nurses and staff, often from her spot by the fish tank.
She leaves her sons, Michael Harvey and his wife Vickie, and Jon Harvey; her granddaughter, Jennifer Harvey; and her great-grandchildren, Kacy and Kaleb Harvey. Her daughter-in-law, Joyce (Ouellette) Harvey, died before her.
A graveside service is Friday, October 23 at 11 a.m. at Locust Grove Cemetery, 104 Langsford Street, Gloucester. Arrangements are by O’Donnell Cremations, Funerals and Celebrations, 167 Maple Street, Danvers.
