Susan J. (Emery) Farkas of Danvers died on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. She was 75.

She was born on September 6, 1951, the daughter of Paul Emery and Ruth (Emery) Smith and Harold Smith, and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1969. She built a career in the pharmaceutical industry, serving as director of clinical studies, and gave her time to her community on a board of trustees. Her faith and her prayers for other people ran through her days. She followed the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins and watched figure skating, which made the phone calls with her daughter about her skating students a favorite ritual, as were the updates on her son’s travels and concerts and their trips to Florida. She liked a table with friends at a local restaurant and a weekend at the beach.

She leaves her children, Brian Farkas of Wilmington and Amanda Farkas of Medford; her former husband, Louis Farkas Jr. of Wilmington; her longtime companion, Don Tuff of Peabody; her mother, Ruth Smith; her brother, Robert Smith; her sisters, Ruthanne Datalo and her husband Kim, and Janis Iddings and her partner Steve Bartholomew; her nephews, Alex Datalo and Ben Iddings; and the family pets, Kona and Tully. Paul Emery Jr. and Matthew Datalo died before her.

Visiting hours are Wednesday, October 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster Street, Melrose, with a funeral service there Thursday, October 15 at 10 a.m. and burial at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
