Robert J. Quinn Jr. of Lynn died on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Salem Hospital with his family beside him. He was 79 and had been married 45 years to Susan (Thibodeau) Quinn.
He was born in Arlington, the son of the late Robert Sr. and Jeanne (Blondin) Quinn, raised in Arlington and Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1965. He then spent more than 30 years as a general merchandiser and manager for Heartland, Purity Supreme and Stop and Shop. He bowled in the Elks league for more than 40 years, traveled to Vermont with Susan every few months to see family, and gave his time to Operation Troop Support in Danvers, the Lynn Veterans Council, American Legion Post 227 in Middleton, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 64 of Lynn and Swampscott, the Franco-American Club in Beverly and the Lafayette Club in Salem. The Commonwealth recognized him with an award for his service and his volunteer hours for veterans. He was quick with a joke and ready for a real conversation.
Besides his wife, he leaves his sisters, Lynda Quinn of Salem and Charlene Tobey of Kensington, N.H.; a nephew; three nieces; and several cousins. His brother, Douglas A. Quinn, died before him.
