James J. Dalton of Lynn died on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at Salem Hospital after a brief illness. He was 77 and had been married 48 years to Marie Ann (Gulia) Dalton.
He was born in Darmstadt, Germany, the son of James J. and Anna Dalton, raised in Revere and East Boston, and lived in Lynn for more than 40 years. He served in the Air Force from 1969 to 1976 and worked in maintenance at the Charlestown Navy Yard until he retired 15 years ago; he was fond of the time he spent working “in the hole” on Bunker Hill. He kept dogs, watched John Wayne and war movies, followed the Patriots and college football, collected turquoise jewelry, and spent long hours at the Saugus and Lynnfield senior centers playing cards and chair volleyball.
Besides his wife, he leaves his daughters, Christina Dalton and Linda Capek; his grandchildren, Brittany Dalton and Emily and Gracie Capek; his great-grandson, Beau Dalton; his brothers, Edward and John Dalton; his half-sister, Denise Dalton; and many friends and relatives. His sister Anneliese Dalton died before him.
